Lynn Locklear, DDS
Dr.-Lynn-Locklear-photoDr. Lynn Locklear is an alumna of Wellesley College and a 1990 graduate of Howard University College of Dentistry. She started a family dental practice in Washington, DC in 1992 that she redefined in 2002. Life-Enhancing Dentistry was birthed in 2002 out of Dr. Locklear’s mission to significantly enhance the quality of people’s lives in a way that is meaningful and lasting.

Dr. Locklear’s “boutique style” neuromuscular and cosmetic dental practice won her Black Enterprise Magazine’s 2006 Business Innovator of the Year Award. This accomplishment landed her on the cover of the August 2006 issue of the magazine under the heading of “Million Dollar Smile.” Dr. Locklear has been a guest on numerous radio and TV programs nationwide, including the “Steve Harvey Morning Show” and “Black Enterprise Reports,” educating the public about neuromuscular dentistry and dental health.

In 2008 Dr. Locklear was awarded fellowship status from the world-renowned Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Studies. Her cosmetic work has been featured in the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Locklear has taught continuing education seminars on neuromuscular and cosmetic dentistry for Howard University College of Dentistry, the National Dental Association, and the American Dental Education Association. Her article “It’s All In Your Bite” appeared as the feature article in the Aurum Continuum, a dental journal that is distributed internationally. Dr. Locklear was also featured in a business textbook in a chapter focusing on the importance of “vision.” She was chosen to be a part of Colgate® toothpaste’s 2009/2010 national advertising campaign, appearing with actress Holly Robinson Pete in television commercials and print ads. In March 2010 she received an award for community service from the Washington, DC chapter of the Howard University Alumni Association.

Dr. Locklear served for three years on the board of directors of the Training Source, is a former member of the Wellesley College Development and Outreach Council, and is the founder of the Gift of a Smile Foundation. She was the 2008 Channel 9 News “Living Well” dentist.

Dr. Locklear is an active member of Unity Church of Washington, DC, and enjoys participating in volunteer activities with her daughter Kyla, age 16, and son August, age 13. She is passionate about preventive health and wellness and is devoted to personal, professional, and spiritual development.
